HELP CENTER
WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO THERAPY?
I am grounded in a feminist philosophy and I work from a person-centered orientation. I believe that you have a natural affinity toward healing and if I provide the appropriate environmental and relational conditions such as genuiness, non-judgement, and empathy that you will naturally gravitate toward wellness. I honour the fact that you have strengths and abilities that have helped you heal in the past and we use these as a foundation for continued growth. Equality and understanding problems within the context in which they occur are also important tenants of my work. Through connection and collaboration, we work together to find the right solutions for you. In my work, I have found that it is helpful for me to utilize empirically supported techniques to aid each person in meeting their own self determined goals. Some techniques I may use in therapy may include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural strategies, Emotion Focused Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, Hakomi approaches, Clinical Hypnosis, Mindfulness Based techniques. Solution Focused Therapy, and Theraplay principles and techniques.
DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE RATES?
Yes! Sliding scale rates are available for those without insurance based on income. It is important to us that the cost for services do not present a barrier to you seeking support.
HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
Each therapy session is 50 minutes in length. The 10 minutes remaining at the end of session are reserved by the psychologist to complete all necessary documentation related to your file.
WHAT PRESENTING CONCERNS CAN THERAPY ADDRESS?
Counselling and psychotherapy can help individuals address various concerns. Our therapists have experience treating presenting concerns such as anger, anxiety, depression or low mood, OCD, coping, emotional regulation, life transitions, self-esteem, relationship concerns and parenting, stress, sleep difficulties, and trauma. In addition, our therapists have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of capacities.
